If you are and fancy making a whole quilt for charity while you are there then please check out Gameofquilts.wix.com/gameofquilts.
Game of Quilts is about completing a quilt from the first cut to the last stitch on the label during the 7 hours that the Festival of Quilts is open each day. Bernina sewing machines, cutting and ironing equipment supplied on the stand.
Each day three teams, each with four members, will try to meet this challenge.
The quilts must measure no less than 48″ square.
The teams will have complete freedom over their designs but they will have been given instructions on how to construct the quilt top. This will be their starting point for a special quilt which will allow all the skills and talents of the members of the teams to shine.
Any style, technique and material is permitted as long as it is practical. The quilts will be donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity at the end of the Festival.
The fabrics for the quilts to be supplied by the teams and the choice of colours is entirely theirs.
The teams will be working in full view of visitors so that they can watch their progress and engage in conversation.
This is not a competition and there is no knock-out of teams. All are winners in that they will have achieved something very special in aid of a very special charity.
You will receive a free pass in to the NEC for the day on which you are taking part in this event.
This event is supported by Twisted Thread/Upper Street Events.
