February Meeting 2025

Wow, what a meeting! We had 14 members come along to the new location, and everyone agreed that it was great. The room was light and airy, and the location seemed to suit everyone. We will definitely try to book it again.

Everyone was asked to bring along a quilt to show, and almost everyone did. For those not on Instagram, the photos of everyone’s quilts are below.

Brigitta brought some confetti quilting on top of an organza base. It made us think about we could use the tiny scraps we have.

Jean showed a quilt that started when she was going on a course. She used Inktense pens to hand draw the sea creatures and we all thought that would make a great meeting so we could learn how to do that.

Emily brought along a gorgeous cushion cover and some complex pieced bags, which she uses all the time. The fabric was a lovely backdrop for the London Modern Quilt Guild pin.

Katie showed the first quilt she made. The foundation paper pieces pattern is the Lumen Quilt from Alison Glass we loved the use of a Cricut Machine to make the label on the back.

Kathryn showed the first quilt she made which had appliquéd English paper pieces on it. The accurate stitching was impressive.

Colette brought her work in progress memory quilt. The hand stitched leaves, collected on various walks were beautiful.

Denise showed us her amazing improv quilting. The cushion covers were a riot of colour. We were all very impressed by the long work in progress that will become a bench cover.

Evelyne showed a shadow block which demonstrated her accuracy and experience. We loved her free motion quilting sampler and everyone wanted Evelyne to run a session to show us how to do it.

Bernadette brought a stunning appliqué quilted piece that prompted a lot of discussion about recent quilting events!

Cat brought her Solstice quilt from a Bryan House Quilts BOM pattern. We loved the pieced name of the quilt on the back!

Flora showed us the quilt she submitted to the Festival of Quilts, still with its pins in place. It was based on a Jenny Haynes pattern, The Kels Quilt. The Mondrian themed back was stunning!

Krista showed us the first quilt she made. The colours match her house perfectly and we loved the story of the group of ladies who had hand quilted it for her.

Marianne showed a quilt that was made from another quilters party pieced fabric. We agreed that it looked like Manhattan so the name “Tricia takes Manhattan” made perfect sense.
